About
My research is in ethics, law and public policy. My books include "Hegel's Political Philosophy" (2007, 2012 2d), "The Global Justice Reader" (2008), "The Right to a Fair Trial" (2009), "Ethics and Moral Philosophy" (2011), "Global Justice and International Affairs" (2011), "New Waves in Ethics" (2011), "Justice and the Capabilities Approach" (2012), "Rawls and Law" (2012), "Punishment" (2012), and "Rawls's Political Liberalism" (co-edited with Martha Nussbaum) (forthcoming).
Research interests include constitutional law, criminal justice, democratic theory, economics and distributive justice, global justice, health policy, justice, and punishment. My research has been funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council and the European Union.
Chair, Newcastle Ethics, Legal, and Political Philosophy Group; Chair, American Philosophical Association Commitee on Philosophy and Law; Secretary, Assoication for Political Thought (UK); Co-Chair, Association of Philosophy Journal Editors; Chair, Political Studies Association's Global Justice and Human Rights Group. Member, Newcastle University's Faculty Research Strategy Group.
I have a strong passion for engagement and public policy, as well as public speaking and consultation work in these areas.
